SHPA Home

The  shpacpd  website describes the wide range of local, national and online CPD activities available to members through SHPA.  However it is recognised that some members have different career requirements and working environments which may require the inclusion of non-SHPACPD options into their CPD plan.  Members are therefore encouraged to consider all potential CPD opportunities when compiling their CPD plan.  

The following list of non-SHPA options is not exhaustive but is provided for consideration. They include:

Local Opportunities

If you work in a hospital it is likely that there will be a wide range of in-house CPD which may include:

• Grand Rounds
• Journal Clubs
• Patient education
• Student education
• Drug utilisation studies
• Research programs
• Protocol development
• In-house committees (Drug Committee, Drug Trials, Medication Safety)

Study Opportunities

Many members participate in a range of work-related or postgraduate studies relevant to their role which may be suitable to include in their CPD plan; for example:

• Home Medicines Review accreditation
• Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy
• Board of Pharmaceutical Studies
• Master Clinical Pharmacy
• Pharm D
• Masters in Business Administration

Online Opportunities

In addition there are a range of other non-SHPA online activities. A number of these are free and will be of interest especially to members who may have difficulty in attending central CE events (for example rural and remote members).

• Veterans MATES Program - free
• Cancer Learning  - free
• Medscape for pharmacists  - free
• American College of Clinical Pharmacy - limited access but free
• Auspharm - CE on-line from University of Tasmania - charge $132/year (i.e. membership of Auspharm)
• PriMed Pharmacy is available through PSA at a charge to non-PSA members of $270 annually (PSA members $145 annually)  
• Rural Health Education Foundation 
• Joint Commission Resources' Virtual Learning Community on Multidrug-Resistant Organisms & Antibiotic Resistance
